At present, I grow lemon balm and use it to infuse oils for my products. I have been striping the leaves off the stems once it is dried. I wonder, could I use the stems also?? Any comments or advise is welcomed.

I also grow lemon balm. The only time that I strip off the leaves is when I am drying it for tea or grinding it into powder. When I am making tinctures, I use the stems and leaves both. I do prefer stripping off the leaves though as the stems get pretty tough to work with. However, when I put it in my distiller, I use the stems and leaves as well. Cindy

Cindy, thanks for the reply. Yes I agree, with a tea you would just want the leaves, but since Im infusing oil, it would seem I could use the stems and I mean the stalks that the leaves grow on. Not the little stems that attach the leaves to the stalk/stem, whatever you call that part of the plant.
