Was wondering if anyone at MMS has tested your Vanilla Musk FO with the Cyclomethicone? It's my all time favorite scent. I'm soo glad you all carry it, since I can only find the Vanilla Musk lotion at Christmas time. Also, wondering if anyone here has made any perfumes? If so, what do you use, and could you share any recipes. I made some with Everclear, but I'm not quite sure I really like it. It didn't seem like I could get rid of the alcohol smell of it. I'm wanting to use the Cyclomethicone, with maybe the 2oz bullet bottles and a sprayer, to add to my Christmas gifts. Any info would be most appreciated! Oh, one more question while I'm thinking of it, are all the MMS Fragrance Oils candle compatible?
Here's my formula for body mists. Body mists are best layered over lotion with the same fragrance to make the fragrance last. I use 190 proof Everclear (ethanol) but you can substitute 80-100 proof vodka and adjust the water accordingly. Some soapers use 90% or 70% isopropyl alcohol.
70% distilled water 10% Polysorbate 20 (to disperse the EO or FO in water) 20% ethanol (20% or more keeps nasties at bay) 1 ml glycerin (helps stick)
USE RATE: 30 drops EO/FO per 100 ml.
Cyclomethicone DRY OIL SPRAY: Dries upon contact. Simply add your fragrance to Cyclomethicone. Mix well and place in a spray bottle. CAUTION: Makes the bathroom floor slippery.
15 ml Cyclomethicone 30 drops (+/-) fragrance
When making any perfume type product, I found it's best to use glass to mix and store the product for awhile to get the best result before dispensing into containers. FOs & EOs can eat through plastic. PET plastic is the best choice for bottling fragrance. NOTE: Not all fragrances disperse into cyclomethicone. Check with Andee -- she tested FOs on her blog.
Let me check the compatibility of Vanilla Musk and Cyclomethicone and I will get back to you.
If the perfume has too much alcohol scent, then I would suspect that too little fragrance was used. Do you know what percentage of oil and alcohol you have used?
