We don't really look at saturated vs unsaturated. Not all saturated fats
make a hard soap and not all unsaturated fats make a soft soap. This is an inaccurate
means of getting to an answer.

If you are unsure how to get started making your own formulas, may I recommend the 6-5-4-1 method of making soap?
It really simplifies things.
