    Hiya! This is the recipe:

    140 grams White Sugar
    3 grams Liquid Glycerin
    2 grams French Green Clay
    50 grams Sweet Almond Oil
    30 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
    20 drops Papaya Fragrance Oil

Can I use the Pink Kaolin Clay instead of the French Green? I would think I could but best to ask and be sure. Also, I can use Hydrovance instead of the Liquid Glycerin yes? And shouldn't I put in a preservative in case they get water in it?

    Thanks for any info!

Yes to the clay and to the hydrovance. Yes for the preservative IF the sugar dissolves into a syrup. If crystals remain and the product is a super saturated solution, then preservation is not as big an issue. I would suggest Liquapar.

I have been back and forth on the preserve/not preserve on these sugar in oil type scrubs (no water in the preparation). It was mentioned to me that any time there is a chance that water might be introduced that a preservative is needed. I still think it is a stretch that any bacteria would thrive in such a preparation. I was sure to have on the label to dispense only with a clean spoon and never put wet fingers into the container, then thinking that people will be people I preserved it. Thanks for your thoughts on this. I never preserve this for my own use and have kept it around for a long time and have not encountered a problem. Linda
